"Mary Magdalene" – A Symbol of Devotion and Redemption

Draped in a flowing crimson gown, Mary Magdalene stands as a figure of deep emotion and spiritual transformation. Her gaze is contemplative, her posture both strong and vulnerable. The alabaster jar in her hand represents her devotion and the anointing of Christ, while the roses surrounding her echo themes of love, sacrifice, and renewal. The textured layers of this artwork mirror the complexities of her story—one of grace, redemption, and unwavering faith.

This painting was created on a 24"x18" birch wood panel. The texture you can notice is venetian plaster that was layered with alcohol ink, sanded and re-layered until the desired depth was achieved. In addition acrylic paint and other mixed media was used. The final layer of this piece consists of oil paint.
