Upright Bloom

This piece is about presence. About standing upright in one’s own softness.

The flowers rise from a simple glass vase, delicate but not weak. Their stems are thin, their forms slightly unruly, yet the whole composition holds itself with grace. There is a sense of becoming here, of beauty refusing to collapse under the weight of life. The blooms feel both vulnerable and defiant, as if they are reaching toward light even while carrying traces of shadow.

Created with loose expressive line, layered colour, and intuitive mark-making, the work balances structure with spontaneity. Soft neutrals allow the deep purples, oranges, pinks, and green to emerge with quiet intensity.
