"Francis of Assisi" – The Joy of Divine Connection

St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and nature, is depicted in a moment of profound harmony with creation. Clothed in his humble brown robe, he sits peacefully, surrounded by birds in flight and a loyal wolf by his side—symbols of his deep kinship with all living beings. His serene expression reflects a heart overflowing with joy, rooted in faith and simplicity. Vibrant red poppies bloom at his feet, representing love, sacrifice, and the beauty of the natural world. This painting on a 36"x 24" gallery wrapped canvas was started by applying several layers of acrylic washes at first to achieve the desired visual depth. The final rendering was done with oil paint.
